Town Hall may today be best
known for its superb acoustics and great sight lines; as they say,
"there's not a bad seat in the house." Town Hall,
historically, is known for the role it played during the women's
rights movement the 1920s; the American Town Meetings of the
Air radio program broadcast during the 30s, 40s and 50s; the
many historic lectures and debates; and innumerable memorable
performances by classical, jazz and popular artists
Town Hall today produces some of
its own programs but, like those of the World
Music Institute, most performances are staged by outside
producers who want the very best
