STREB
With not-quite-real action heroes having
taken over the silver screen and extreme sports introduced to
the Olympics, it's not too surprising that extreme dance has
entered the lexicon with the introduction of Elizabeth Streb's
powerful, electrifying and fearless choreography. The troupe
performs STREB vs Gravity, in which "whether flying,
falling, or seemingly suspended in mid-air, [they] fearlessly
challenge nature, creating a new aesthetic of grace and danger."
To get a taste of STREB's work you can put an eyeball on a video

Emanuel Gat Dance
Israeli choreographer Emanuel Gat's dance
group presents a program of two stimulating works, The Rite
of Spring and Winter Voyage. While Gat might give a
nod to the Stravinsky/Nijinksy Le Sacre du Printemps, he
challenges the audiences complacency to this odd-woman-out dance
by setting the dancers against the visceral beat of salsa. Plus
Winter Voyage, a work set to Schubert's Winterreisse
