Lincoln Center Out of Doors presents great fun for the entire family all around the open air plazas of the Center. Music, dance, plays and activities of all styles -- and from all over -- guaranties fun for all ages

The theme of the 2005 season is "The Spirit of the Blues" a celebration of American blues and jazz, with nods to the blues-inflected sounds of Spanish Flamenco, Portuguese Fado and forms from Africa and South America

This year's special commissions are Big City Blues: A City and Country Mouse Adventure, an urban "tail" with breathtaking giant puppetry, and Once There Was a Village, a history of the dynamic ethnic whirlpool that is Manhattan's Lower East Side

As always, the event kicker-offer is the ever-popular Playday, when kids from 8 to 80 can participate in a variety of music, dance, games and art workshops presented simultaneously in around Lincoln Center's plazas. Highlights include performances by some of New York's best subway musicians; Spanish and Chinese drumming; perfecting your skills with members of the Big Apple Circus; and learning how to move your feet to the beat, whether it's from the Middle East, Africa or Ireland

Now in its sixth season at Out of Doors, La Casita: A Home for the Heart, extends the great oral traditions of the spoken word with performances by a host of poets, troubadours, bands, comedians, singers, percussionists, and storytellers. There are featured performances all throughout the season that include music, dance and theater from a widely diverse area

It's all exciting. It's all entertaining. It's all free!
