Frederick P Rose Hall is the world's first performing arts
facility designed for jazz. Designed by Rafael Vinoly (with a bit
of input from Wynton Marsalis), the 100,000-square-foot hall
feature threes distinct performance venues – Rose Theater, The
Allen Room and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola – all conceived for the
function and feeling of jazz and engineered for warmth and clarity
of sound. The hall will also include the
Ertegun Jazz Hall of Fame, providing visitors with
access to a rich jazz history and experience, particularly of the masters that
Jazz at Lincoln Center will annually induct into the Hall of Fame.
J@LC's education mission will be furthered by the two rehearsal
studios and the classroom that are a part of the Irene Diamond
Education Center
The Rose Theater is
the world's first performing arts facility designed for jazz. The
theater seats between 1,100 to 1,231 and is designed for jazz, but
can also accommodate opera, dance, theater, film, and orchestral
performances. The stage is large enough for full theatrical
productions, but it maintains a sense of intimacy and involvement
between performers and audience
The Allen
Room is a 310- to 550-seat performance space, and provides an
elegant and intimate setting with views through a 50-by-90-foot
glass wall overlooking Central Park. Reminiscent of a Greek
amphitheater, adjustable risers convert seven levels of
theatrical-style seating to four, allowing for cabaret or banquet
configurations. Dancing beneath the stars or watching musicians
play against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline are some of the
many features
Dizzy's Club
is an intimate, 140-seat jazz club, and provides a space for
ensemble performances and education, as well as informal
gatherings, seminars and other events
