Says The Gershwin Hotel's reasonably-priced accommodations
are ideally suited for folks who plan to be out and about the town
and offers enough activities and excitement of its own that guests
will not want for entertainment. The fun starts as soon as you walk
into the lobby and notice the 'funky-pop' decor and art works. The
folks at the Gershwin name Andy Warhol as the hotel's 'artisitc
godfather,' and it shows throughout the property. Guest rooms are
small -- normal in Manhattan -- done in bright colors, boast modern
art prints and murals and are just about spotless. All rooms have
been significantly upgraded over the past couple of years with new
furniture and trimmings, revamped air conditioning and hardwood
floors in the suites. The Living Room cabaret hosts a wide variety
of live entertainment five nights a week, usually for a very modest
cover charge. The hotel staff is mostly young, very personable and,
excuse the term, real hip to what's going on in the ever-changing
NYC scene. The Gershwin hotel is especially convenient to all the
new activity in the Flatiron District and Madison Square area. It's
a pretty nice stroll downtown to the Village, a short walk across
town to either Chelsea or the Herald Square area and just a short
cab ride to the Theater District and Midtown attractions
