Says Don't expect a grand entrance at the Broadway Plaza hotel;
in fact, try not to miss the entrance, it's squeezed between a
couple of ground floor shops. Once inside, the lobby is very small,
but tastefully done in marble and hand-crafted wood. The guest rooms
are on the smallish side -- no surprise in the City -- decorated in
comfortable enough, upscale motel style using an earth toned
palette. We were actually quite surprised at the rates when the
hotel first opened a few years back. Of course, that was at the
height of the Internet boom and the surrounding Silicon Alley  area
was going strong. Rates have dropped back to earth and the Broadway
Plaza is now a pretty good buy for a New York City hotel. The
neighborhood is a mix of manufacturing and street-level import and
export businesses, though some high tech companies are still
chugging along. It's within walking distance of Herald Square,
Madison Square Garden and the restaurants and nightspots in the
Flatiron District
