Says The old Tudor Hotel underwent a complete renovation a
few years ago at the start of the lodging renaissance in NYC. The
public areas were gutted and rebuilt, taking the seediness out of
its otherwise genteel demeanor. Today's bar and lounge are pleasant
spaces for a quiet, relaxing cocktail in the evening; the 24-hour
fitness center let's you work out and unwind at your convenience.
This is fortunate, for the size of the rooms at this property have
remained the same as in its previous incarnation. Standard rooms
offer a bed, a small desk and one chair in crowded circumstances.
Deluxe rooms offer somewhat larger accommodations 
that include a small seating area with loveseat and coffee table and
two chairs. All rooms are pleasantly furnished in a faux
European-classic style. When you feel the need to get out for some
fresh air be sure to visit one of Manhattan's best kept secrets,
Tudor City Greens. The Greens, just up the stairs from the hotel,
are two small tree-shaded parks flanking 42nd Street between 1st and
2nd Avenues. The parks are very popular with the outdoor lunch crowd
and are great places to sit, read, be quiet and catch a breeze on a
warm day. The Crowne Plaza United Nations is very convenient to the
United Nations and many countries' United Nations missions, as well
as Grand Central Terminal and Midtown corporate headquarters
