Says The Dumont Plaza was very typical of all the offerings
in the then Manhattan East Suites chain: clean, airy, spacious,
residential-style suites in a convenient locations. Well, they've
gone and changed and it's a whole new ballgame. Changing it's name
to reflect changing times, the now Affinia Hospitality group is also
changing its properties. The Dumont is the first of the group's
"Signature Series" hotels and billed as "New York
City's only executive fitness suite hotel." The property has
it's own Fitness Concierge and the fitness and spa facility offers a
wide range of training regimens and therapies. Too shy to to use the
gym? No problem here, the hotel also offers various in-room  training
programs and spa treatments. Along the way the group has revamped
the suites, now done up in a distinctly executive style. Still, the apartment-like suites are appealing to families in town for a long
weekend, especially if you get a good rate. Suites all have sofa beds and
fully-equipped kitchens. If you want to really live like a New
Yorker -- albeit with a bit more
space, better furnishings and much better services -- this is the
way to do it. The Dumont's location is very convenient to the Empire
State Building, Macy's, Madison Square Garden and the Javits
Convention Center, as well as all other Midtown attractions. The
Murray Hill neighborhood offers many, many dining and entertainment
options
