Says This was a pleasant surprise. One of the first units
in the newly renamed Affinia Hospitality group hotel chain, the Eastgate was starting
to get a bit long in the tooth. Renovated within the past couple of
years this all-suite hotel now offers bright, sunny and spacious
rooms for the business or pleasure traveler. Furnishings are solid
"hotel-modern" with traditional fabrics to give suites a
warm, comfy look. The accommodations are very spacious and since
rates have dipped somewhat puts them solidly into the "good
buy" category for rooms of this size. Everyone on the staff
with which we spoke was very  courteous,
friendly and very helpful and informative. The hotel is located in
the somewhat quieter Murray Hill area which offers many dining and
entertainment options in all price ranges. Directly to the south is
Gramercy Park and the nightspots of the Flatiron District and Park
Avenue South. Herald Square shopping, Midtown sights and attractions
and the Theater District are but a long stroll or short cab ride
away
