Says The Courtyard Manhattan 5th Avenue Hotel, most
recently the Hotel 5A for a short period, prior to that the Clarion Fifth Avenue, is one of New York
City's newer hotels. After the first change of hands we were able to
say that not much except the management has turned over. This time
around, the folks at Marriott are performing a bit of a renovation
from June through September 2005. So, keeping that in mind, here's
what I said the last time around:
The hotel
provides those services and amenities you just can't leave home
without. Rooms are clean and serviceable, furnished in a comfortable
hotel-modern style with no surprises. And
also no surprise, the staff is still pleasant, friendly and helpful.
Targeted to value-minded business and leisure travelers, the hotel
is just down the
street from the NY Public Library and Bryant Park and within walking
distance of all Midtown Manhattan -- from the Empire State Building
at 34th Street to Central Park at 59th Street -- with all of
5th Avenue, the Theater District and other sights and attractions in
between. It's also a good budget-minded choice for the Javits
Convention Center, just a short bus or cab ride across town
