Says This is a really nice place. It's part of the Affinia
Hospitality Group that normally specializes in
converting apartment buildings to longer-stay guest use. In this
case they started with a grand New York City hotel (built in 1926),
and made it into one of our favorite Manhattan hotel properties. You
feel welcome and at home as soon as you walk into the stylishly
decorated lobby; we'll describe the decor as "modern English
club," comfortable seating areas, framed prints, wood in a bit
more light and airy feel than a leather-bound club room. All public
areas are very well maintained. The staff people we spoke with were
very friendly and very helpful. Studios and suites are comfortably
furnished in mock-English townhouse style 
and are very pleasant to return to after a night on the town. They
provide all the amenities you need, whether in town for business or
pleasure. Be sure to plop yourself down on the sofas, they are very,
very comfy. The rooftop garden is a great place to unwind after a
day of frenetic business or face-paced sightseeing and offers
stunning views of Midtown. All this and you also get the quiet
Murray Hill neighborhood. The Shelburne is within walking distance
of most of Midtown and at night a short cab ride home from the
theater
