What Susie says about the Holiday Inn Martinique, a New York City hotelSusie Says  "We must be in the wrong place," was Susie's first thought as she entered the renovated Holiday Inn Martinique. Expecting a rejuvenated former down-at-the-heels-type hotel, we were treated to an open and spacious reception and lobby area which features light wood paneling and mosaic tile floors. Built at the turn of the 1900s, this French Renaissance-inspired property was lovingly refurbished by the folks at Holiday Inn to return it to its former grand NYC hotel status. This full-service hotel boasts spacious common areas and all services and facilities for the business traveler. We saw two standard rooms, a king and a double. Both rooms were tastefully furnished, comfortable, clean and included a good-sized work area among all the usual amenities. To our pleasant surprise the rooms, one on the 4th floor and one on the 14th floor, were both very quiet, though steps from noisy Broadway and Herald Square. The Herald Square-Greeley Square neighborhood has had much attention paid to it in the past couple of years and both squares have been extensively remodeled and have much more of a welcoming feeling than in the recent past. The Little Korea business Photo of Holiday Inn Martinique New York City hotel guest roomarea that surrounds the squares is a hubbub of activity and provides many great choices for late night and 24-hour dining. The hotel is steps away from the Empire State Building, Macy's and other Herald Square shopping, a long walk or short cab ride to the Javits Convention Center. The Theater District and other Midtown attractions are also a walk or a cab ride away to the north. A few block south starts the newly-trendy Flatiron District which leads you into Chelsea and Greenwich Village
