Says An affordable hotel close to Midtown that's a place
you would actually hang your hat? The Pickwick Arms has been a
favorite of budget-minded travelers for years. A recent renovation
has upgraded the hotel to give guests more comfortable
accommodations. Done in a "sleek and modern" (let's call
it "upscale motel") motif, the rooms aren't huge or
elegant, but they are tastefully furnished and very clean. There's
not much you can really say about a hotel in this class except that
it's small, it's cheap, the folks we spoke with were really, really
nice and it has a great Turtle Bay location -- a real New York City
neighborhood. On Manhattan's Eastside the Pickwick Arms is within
walking distance of just about
everything in Midtown -- from the United Nations to the Theater
District, from Rockefeller Center and St Pat's to Central Park.
We're just a couple of blocks away and we consider easy walking
distance anywhere from 23rd to say, 65th Streets and all the way
across town to the far West Side. And believe it when we say that
the Turtle Bay area offers a wide range of dining choices, from
destination restaurants to neighborhood eateries, pubs and taverns.
