Susie
Says Opened in 1924 and named after Teddy, this huge box
of a hotel is best suited for the business traveler but does a
flourishing tourist business with its many weekend specials. A
complete renovation has restored the Roosevelt to some of its past
splendor. Be warned, the massive, colonnaded lobby that you enter is
not Grand Central Terminal, it just looks like it (Grand Central can
be reached by a marble-lined staircase). Standard rooms are of
average size, very comfortably furnished and very clean, with ample
room to work. The staff is very professional and courteous and up to
dealing with large groups and functions. For business, the Roosevelt
is smack in the middle of the Midtown business district and
expense-account restaurants. The tourist traveler in for a weekend
has all Midtown attractions, the Theater District, United Nations,
Rockefeller Center, 5th Avenue shopping, St Patrick's Cathedral and
much more just short strolls away
