What Susie says about the W New York City hotelSusie Says  This is the first entry of what is fast becoming Susie's favorite hotel chain, the new W hotel group. The newly remodeled rooms are sleekly, yet comfortably designed, decorated with a earth-tone palette that reflects today's casual modernity. All of the light and cheery rooms feature the cushy 'W' bed -- featherbeds with goose down pillows and comforters -- 27" televisions, comfy sitting chair, writing desk and large shower area. In order to carve out a bit of extra floor space most rooms come with really neat stall showers; if you want a room with a bath tub be sure to request it when making a reservation, though there's no guarantee. The 'green' theme is emphasized by the floral arrangement -- a rectangular planting of green grass to bring your piece of Central Park indoors; some rooms include a watering can. (You should have seen how fast the New York "trendsetters" picked this up. Hunks of grass started appearing as centerpieces and accent arrangements at many functions. They still pop up here and there. Hey! If you ain't first with the idea then it's just boring!) The use of natural products is carried throughout the thoroughly modern yet very relaxing public areas. What can't be stressed enough is what the staff of the hotel stresses the most -- service. Ask and you shall receive, anything, any time of the day or night. "Whatever Whenever" is what they call it. Oh, location. Like other Midtown hotels, the W is convenient to just about anything you would like to see or do. It is especially convenient to Rockefeller Center, St Patrick's Cathedral, the United Nations and Midtown corporate offices and just a few minutes walk or cab ride to the Theater District
