Says A few year's ago I wrote "The Howard Johnson
Plaza is everything you would expect of a HoJo,
nothing more and nothing less. You get pretty good facilities and
pretty good service at a pretty good location. There are no
surprises, furnishings are 'upscale-motel,' everything is
clean, the staff is friendly and your stay should be fine."
 It
was basically an okay place back then but I have not been able to
reconfirm that over the past couple of years. Each time I stopped by
and asked to see a room ("My niece and her family are coming
into town..."), I was somehow rebuffed, usually with the
"Don't have time now. Come back tomorrow" line. So, until
I can eyeball the place I can no longer recommend it. I can tell you
that there are
six Broadway theaters within a block or two walk and all others are
within very
easy walking distance, as are the lights and excitement of Times
Square and the hustle and bustle of Rockefeller Center and 5th
Avenue shopping. Need a break? A stroll up 8th Avenue will bring you
to the new Time Warner Center and the tranquility of Central Park
Bottom line? You pay your bucks and
you take your chances
