What Susie says about the Mansfield, a New York City hotelSusie Says  The Mansfield Hotel is one of the little boutique gems found along Club Row. "Little" is truly the operative word when it comes to this hotel. While furnished quite nicely and very comfortably the layout's are a bit cramped and awkward -- even by Manhattan standards. Don't bring to much luggage as you'll be hard pressed to find enough space to unpack. If you only need a double I think it pays to book a room for three, the few extra bucks per night make a big difference in space

That said, the Mansfield is really a great place to stay. The ambience harks back to the "good old days" of New York City hotel life. . Aside from the cramped space, the rooms of this Art Deco style hotel are very nicely appointed with attention to detail, deluxe beds and linens and, I grudgingly admit, are very, very comfortable and relaxing. The hotel offers a wide range of unique amenities to make your stay especially comfortable: the by now usual upscale bath accessories and comfy robes are joined by a 24-hour coffee and tea service; a small, lovely reading room cum library off the lobby furnished in, they say, British-Burmese Colonial circa 1925; and the video and CD library from which you can make selections

Over the past couple of years we've directed a couple of folks from out of town to the Mansfield and talked with a couple of others who have stayed there and have been quite surprised at their comments on the service. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding. Back when the hotel was under different management the service couldn't have been more professional, thoughtful and warm. Things change, though so far have not heard anything concerning the service that would put us off staying there

Though it lacks a restaurant, the hotel offers limited room service (11:00A thru 10:30P). If you need a bite to eat after theater there are many other restaurants in the area, so you won't go hungry. Similarly, the hotel's watering hole, Bar M, closes down at midnight; if you feel the need to bend you elbow a bit longer there are quite a few other drinking establishments within a couple of short blocks. The Mansfield Hotel's location on Club Row is just down the street from Grand Central Terminal, a very short walk to the Theater District and everything else there is to see and do in Midtown Manhattan
