What Susie says about the Time, a New York City hotelSusie Says  "Lot's of glass. Lot's of black." was my first impression of the Adam Tihany redesigned Time. The two-story glass facade fronting the lobby opens into what would be a smallish lobby accented with sleek leather and suede sofas and stark occasional tables. This theme is carried through to the rooms, each decorated in one of three primary-color designs. Straight lines abound -- the only curve is in the bolster on the bed. There is no 'hominess' about The Time, but it is quite comfortable in its own way. Photo of Time New York City hotel guest roomThe hotel's standard rooms are very small, for a few bucks more it's worth it to book a superior room. These offer a bit more space and very nice walk-in showers instead of a full bath tub

Overall the Time Hotel is a bit too chi-chi for me, a bit pretentious for what is really is: A mid-priced hotel with acceptable service that's just trying to be a bit different. Nothing wrong with that. You'll either love it or hate it

What is to be loved is the location within a couple of blocks of every Broadway theater. And being within walking distance of just about everything you would like to see or do in Midtown Manhattan

Surprisingly, as it once was one of the "have to be seen at" places, The Time is not unreasonably priced and is one of Manhattan's better hotel buys
