What Susie says about the West Park, a New York City hotelSusie Says The last time we visited he West Park hotel in the Spring of 2001,  we were very impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. At the time, they showed us a room with 2 single beds. It was very small, with a small bath, but very clean and very neat. Room amenities amounted to just a hairdryer. We then recommended it as a good deal for budget-minded tourists who needed basic accommodations to lay their heads at night after a long day or night on the town. The only drawback at the time was the demolition work going on across the street; the old New York City Coliseum was coming down to make way for the new world headquarters of Time Warner. Now the complex is complete and it includes a number of tourist Photo of West Park New York City hotel guest roomdestinations, including the new home of the Wynton Marsalis-headed Jazz at Lincoln Center; a vertical shopping area (they don't call it a mall), and some of the priciest restaurants in Manhattan. So it seems like the folks at the West Park might be gearing up to take advantage of their now very advantageous location. This "older, small and by no means glamorous" hotel appears to be spiffing itself up and adding amenities in anticipation of no longer being a bit out of the way. If it was a good deal awhile back, if you can get a good rate it's even better now. And besides the Time Warner center directly across the street, the hotel is very convenient to Carnegie Hall and Central Park. Lincoln Center is a short stroll up Broadway and, on a nice evening the Theater District and Times Square is a pleasant walk south along the Great White Way. Columbus Circle is a transportation hub and the subways and buses that run through it will whisk you anywhere in the City
