Says We didn't know that the Bentley existed until we started
doing research for Jim's Deli, the New York City Guide. It's a very
pleasant surprise. Stylishly modern rooms have marble baths and
expansive views of the 59th Street Bridge; though small -- as many
hotel rooms in NYC are -- they are very comfortable. A very pleasant
staff recommends rooms in the "4" line (904, 1004, 1104,
etc); they think the windows are a bit larger. A cozy, romantic,
top-floor restaurant and bar offers even better views -- and pretty
darn decent food and drinks, too. The folks who run the Bentley are
really trying to give people
more than their moneys worth. They've now thrown in quality
Belgian bed linens along with down comforters to make things just a
bit more comfy -- along with rates that are just a bit more
attractive than other comparable hotels
The only drawback to a very
quiet neighborhood is the lack of nearby public transportation, but
catching a cab might not be too much of an inconvenience to return
to this gem after a night on the town; our friend Joshua thinks so
-- it's the only place he stays now when he comes into town to see
family and friends. If you enjoy exploring New York City
neighborhoods, the Bentley is a great place to base yourself when
checking out Yorkville, Lenox Hill and Sutton Place. It's not a bad
stroll to Madison Avenue boutique shopping and 1st and 2nd Avenues
(one and two blocks west of York), offer a wide variety of
neighborhood dining and entertainment options
Our California-based accountant and
his wife spent a pre-tax season week at the Bentley in 2004 and
absolutely loved it. They started their days with breakfast and
views in the rooftop lounge and ended their nights in the same spot
over a quiet cocktail. They passed on that the service "far
surpasses the rate" -- they happened to get a great one -- and
that they would be sure to return
We think it's a great place. Be sure
to grab it if you get a good rate!
