The American Ballet Theater
was founded in 1940 and has become the premiere classic dance
company in the nation. The company's repertoire, unlike others
that are limited, includes all of the well-loved classic
dance stories of the 19th century. The company also performs a
vast repertoire of newer works by all the choreographic masters of
the 20th century and continues to look to the future
