Carnegie
Hall The Oratorio Society
of New York was formed in 1873 by Leopold Damrosch and has
been performing at Carnegie Hall since it's opening in 1891
In addition to its Carnegie Hall
performances the Society also participates in benefit events and
each Spring since 1977 has held a solo voice competition to
encourage young singers. The Society has recently started a high
school teaching program in which members visit schools to educate
students about the programs they are going to hear when they
attend a Society concert
