What Susie says about NAME New York City hostelSusie Says  I haven't yet gotten up to see the New Frontier Hostel but it looks like the location can't be beat -- right in the middle of a vibrantly resurgent Uptown. All the best of Harlem is close by with the Apollo Theater, Morningside Park, the Cathedral of St John the Divine, Columbia U and City U just short strolls away. You can hop on the nearby subway and get to Midtown in about a 15-minute ride. International and domestic guests are welcome; reservations are highly recommended, especially for the summer months. Hostel host Hunter Hayes (his e-mails make him sound like a pretty nice guy), provides a continental breakfast -- complimentary for guests in private rooms, extra charge for dormitory guests -- and keeps a stock of snacks on hand. The hostel has no laundry facilities, but a Laundromat is about a block away. See the hostel's web site for specific reservation policies and payment details

Rates  Dormitory beds $25 | Private rooms $100
