 The
primary mission of Seafarers and International House is still to
provide affordable and safe accommodations for merchant seamen
awaiting a berth. The house welcomes all travelers to use its
facilities. Guest rooms are small, spotlessly clean, furnished in
"motel modern," and in many ways are head and shoulders
above some comparable commercial hotels. The House specializes in
accommodations for people with family members receiving treatment at
one of the areas many medical facilities. The Stuyvesant Square
neighborhood is very quiet, old New York. The Friend's Meeting House
and St George Church, much overlooked landmarks, are a block away.
The hustle and bustle of Union Square -- and its transportation hub
-- a very short stroll. The house is well within walking distance of
Greenwich Village, Chelsea and Gramercy Park
