Highlights

The China Institute Gallery does not
have a permanent collection but, twice a year, invites guest
curators to mount shows with objects from museums, private
collections and galleries. The shows typically focus on traditional
Chinese methods and techniques and may feature ancient and classic
ceramic works, bronze pieces, jade carvings and folk art.
Occasionally the Gallery shows works of more modern Chinese artists,
mostly those grounded in traditional techniques and then expanded
the limits. Among enthusiasts each show, though usually small, is
regarded as a bit of an exquisite masterpiece in itself
The Institute provides lectures,
symposia, workshops and classes in the traditional Chinese arts,
language and cultural study programs, classes and events for kids,
and sponsors a variety of educational tours
