Info New York Mets

Tickets With the Mets move into Citi Field came a restructuring of ticket prices that was truly remarkable, with a top single-ticket price of $95 in 2009. After unexpectedly sluggish sales last year (although they will not admit that), the Mets have somewhat re-jiggered the prices to help the beleaguered folks who can afford top-end tix, though in some cases they actually raised prices, so it's probably a wash (see below). Us bottom-enders didn't get any help, with most of the lower-priced (worst) seats in the house remaining the same

The biggest surprise in 2010 is the now 41 different seating categories -- Yes, 41, up from 38 in 2009 -- each available at five different prices that depend on the relative popularity of a game. That works out to an overwhelming 205 different price points

The New York Mets were born through the efforts of attorney William Shea, for whom the old stadium was named. He sought a National League franchise for NYC as a replacement for the Dodgers and Giants, from which the team's colors come -- Dodger blue and Giant's orange. The Metsies' first game was played in April, 1962. Since then they have provided New York baseball fans with high drama, periods of frustration and Citywide celebration. They've been through a couple of tough times in recent years and, with a solid core among its starters going into the 2009 season the teams was expected to be very competitive. Unfortunately, injuries to key starters -- and then to key replacements -- coupled with some inattention in the field, has made it a much tougher run for  the team enjoy an appearance in the post season
