Tickets With the Mets move into Citi Field came a
restructuring of ticket prices that was truly remarkable, with a
top single-ticket price of $95 in 2009. After unexpectedly
sluggish sales last year (although they will not admit that),
the Mets have somewhat re-jiggered the prices to help the
beleaguered folks who can afford top-end tix, though in some
cases they actually raised prices, so it's probably a wash (see
below). Us bottom-enders didn't get any help, with most of the
lower-priced (worst) seats in the house remaining the same
The biggest surprise in 2010 is the now 41 different seating categories --
Yes, 41, up from 38 in 2009 -- each available at five different prices that depend
on the relative popularity of a game. That works out to an
overwhelming 205 different price points

The New York Mets were born
through the efforts of attorney William Shea, for whom the old stadium
was named. He sought a National League franchise for NYC as a
replacement for the Dodgers and Giants, from which the team's
colors come -- Dodger blue and Giant's orange. The Metsies' first
game was played in April, 1962. Since then they have provided New
York baseball fans with high drama, periods of frustration and
Citywide celebration. They've been through a couple of tough times
in recent years and, with a solid core among its starters going
into the 2009 season the teams was expected to be very
competitive. Unfortunately, injuries to key starters -- and then
to key replacements -- coupled with some inattention in the
field, has made it a much tougher run for the team enjoy
an appearance in the post season
