Citi Field
The Mets old home, Shea Stadium, wasn't great for baseball
or football, or really much of anything for that matter. Time
will tell how the new purpose-built Citi Field will work for the
home team

Citi Field opened in time
for the 2009 baseball season. It replaced the old ballpark named in
honor of William A Shea, the New York city attorney who fought to
bring a National League baseball team back to the City to
replace the Dodgers and the Giants. Except for the expected
outcry over the greatly increased ticket prices, the new stadium
has opened to mostly good reviews. It incorporates the fairly
new "open concourse" design. No longer do patrons go through
tunnels to reach their seats or have to lose sight of the game
in order to grab a hot dog. All the concourse facilities are now
open to the field, with no walls to get in the way. However, the
have been reports of sightline problems in some seats where
walls and other obstructions do get in the way
Food reviews have been fairly
good -- keeping in mind that this is still a ballpark and
quality is going to be whatever it is and prices are going to be
high. The Wilpon family apparently put a lot of thought into
bringing local flavor into the park with Nathan's hot dogs,
Mama's of Corona Italian sandwiches, Cascarino's pizza and
offerings from local restaurateur Danny Meyer's Shake Shack and
Blue Smoke BBQ joint
