Review  Music and dance revues have been a Broadway staple since theaters started creeping uptown from Union Square. Most are not demanding of the audience, all have toe-tapping tunes and, best for the producers, even non-English speaking tourists can enjoy them. Swing! is the newest entry in this line of major revues; if it makes it to the Spring tourist season despite its problems it will stick around for a decent run

If you're a fan of swing music you might enjoy this show. More likely, you will be startled by the surprising lack of 'we're-out-of-the-depression-and-we're-happy,' 'keep-our-spirits-up, there's-a-war' and 'you-made-it-home, everything's-okay' emotion of which swing music was a part. The talented dancers know the beat and the steps but never talked to their grandparents about how the music felt

Bottom Line  Don't linger on this show. Best bet? Take in Tango Argentino or Contact
