Synopsis  It's the 1930s, it's Broadway. You've got a show, Pretty Lady, an almost over-the-hill star, the "world's greatest director," a wanna-be chorus girl and, of course, the guy soon to be her guy. There's backstage dalliances, a bit of backbiting and a whole lot of fun for the audience as the show makes its way from Philadelphia to New York and young Peggy Sawyer from Allentown, Pennsylvania, gets her big break. Some of the great songs include You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me, I Only Have Eyes For You, We're In The Money, Lullaby of Broadway, About A Quarter To Nine, Shuffle Off To Buffalo and, of course, 42nd Street. You're musically dead if you can't find something to hum as you leave the theater after this show

Notes  The original production of 42nd Street opened August 25, 1980, at the Winter Garden Theater. Jerry Orbach and Tammy Grimes starred. At closing curtain producer David Merrick announced that director Gower Champion had died that afternoon
