Synopsis  Oklahoma! is set 100 years ago after the plains have been tamed, almost; now the land wars between the farmers and cattlemen are raging. Against this backdrop is the eternal story that has been told from Romeo and Juliet to West Side Story, young farm girl Laurey is being courted by young farm hand Jud on one hand and cowboy Curly on the other. Decisions, decisions. Jud has a dark side while Curly is...well Curly breaks out into Oh, What a Beautiful Morning, so you know he has a soft, sensitive side. Other hit tunes from the show include Surrey With the Fringe On Top, People Will Say We're In Love and, of course O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!

Notes  The inspiration for Oklahoma! was the Lynn Riggs drama Green Grow the Lilacs, which ran for 64 performances at the Guild Theater in 1931. Franchot Tone played Curley, June Walker was Laurey. The original musical production was first staged at the St James Theater in 1943 with Alfred Drake and Joan Roberts leading the cast. The show played for 2,248 performances. Oklahoma! has been revisited three times on Broadway, most recently in 1979 at the Palace Theater
