Synopsis In Sweet Smell of
Success John Lithgow and Brian D'Arcy James play J J Hunsecker
and Sidney Falco, roles filled by Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis in
the gritty 1957 non-musical film of the same name. Loosely based on
gossip columnist Walter Winchell, the Hunsecker character uses press
agent Falco to do all of his dirty work and then enjoys rubbing his
nose in it
Notes Sweet Smell of
Success was roughly pounded by virtually all New York critics
and is expected to survive only until sometime in May and hopes for
a Tony nomination miracle
