Arnim's novel was published in 1922. A short Broadway run was
produced in 1925 at the Morosco Theater with a book written by Kane
Campbell. A film adaptation was released in 1935 and starred Ann
Harding, Frank Morgan, Katharine Alexander and Reginald Owen. The
1992 remake featured Josie Lawrence, Alfred Molina, Miranda
Richardson and Jim Broadbent
