Notes La Boheme has had three operatic runs on Broadway: in 1927; one performance in 1944; and in repertory by the San Carlo Opera Company in 1948, all produced by impresario Fortune Gallo. The 1927 production was at the Gallo Opera House, today's Studio 54. The best-known adaptation of Puccini's classic is Jonathan Larson's Rent, playing on Broadway since April, 1996
