Notes  The original musical production of Man of La Mancha bowed at the ANTA Washington Square Theater November, 1965, starring Richard Kiley as Don Quixote. The show subsequently transferred to the Martin Beck Theater, the Eden Theater and ended its run at the Mark Hellenger Theater after a then-record 2,328 performances on June 26, 1971

The audience pleasing show has been revived three times: 1972 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, 1977 at the Palace Theater and, most recently, 1992 at the Marquis Theater

Interesting tidbit  Did you know that there is a museum dedicated to Don Quixote? The Museo Iconografico del Quijote in Guanajuato, Mexico, is dedicated to all things Quixote and has an extensive collection of art, including works by Dali and Picasso. We visited the museum and town a few years ago and found it to be one of the most illuminating of our trips through the old Mexico colonial areas
