Oscar Wilde's Salome is among the author's lesser performed works. This "biblical tale of lust and revenge" deals with King Herod's lust for Salome, his wife's daughter, and Salome's love for John the Baptist. This is a staged reading, not a costumed drama

Notes  According to the Internet Broadway Database, Wilde's Salome appears to have been first staged in New York in 1917 by the Washington Square Players at the Comedy Theater. There was also a short run at the Klaw Theater in 1922 and the somewhat official eight-performance Broadway debut at the Frazee Theater in 1923. The play had a one-month revival at the Circle in the Square Theater in 1992 with Al Pacino, then as now, in the role of King Herod
