Opening Night Cast Tovah Feldshuh
Golda's Balcony is the
critically acclaimed Manhattan
Ensemble Theater's production of the life of Israel's prime
minister: from her early years as a child in Russia; her family's
migration to the States; her devotion to the Zionist cause; and, as
prime minister, her consideration of the use of nuclear weapons
during the 1973 war
TheaterScene Review
Tovah Feldshuh commands the stage in a
breathtaking performance as Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir and
brings an admirable, unparalleled amount of enthusiasm and energy to
bring to life one of history's most politically powerful women...

Notes Author William
Gibson (The Miracle Worker), has visited the life of Golda
Meir once before. Golda, which opened at the Morosco Theater
on November 14, 1977, starred Anne Bancroft in a 93-performance run With
it's 392nd performance on October 3rd, Golda's Balcony became
the longest running one-woman show on Broadway, surpassing Lily
Tomlin's 391 performance run in The Search for Signs of
Intelligent Life in the Universe from 1985 to 1986 (We're not
including Ms Tomlin's additional 184 performances in the 2000
revival of Search for
Signs... here because we think the 14-year break was plenty
of time to catch her breath) |
