Notes  Shakespeare's Henry IV has a long performance history in New York City. King Henry IV, Part I was the first, or among the first, productions mounted by David Douglass at his Theater in John Street in 1767. Located at the corner of John Street and Broadway, the theater, with others nearby, formed the 'Broadway Theater District' of its time. Various incarnations of Henry IV have been produced over the years, the most recent a 9-performance run of Part I and Part II at the New Century Theater in 1946 that featured Laurence Olivier
