Prymate will be the final show to open for the 2003-2004 Broadway season and it's a surprise all the way around. The show premiered -- and only had a two-week run -- at Tallahassee's Florida State University in February 2004. Ms Frelich, Ms Tom and Mr De Shields starred along with Robert Walden. Mr Walden is the only cast member reported not to be making the leap to Broadway

Prymate's story from the FSU press release: "In the arenas of science and love, who has the right to do what to whom? Prymate follows the story of two scientists battling for control over the life of an aging gorilla that communicates through the use of American Sign Language. The play deals with the gorilla’s right to age peacefully versus the possibility that he might be used to find a cure for a deadly disease"
