Synopsis Ben Johnson's Volpone
is updated to Gold Rush-era San Francisco as a moneyed miser with a
slyly amassed fortune cons three "friends" into giving him
gifts as each of the friends tries to con the miser into making each
of them his sole heir. With this all-star comedy cast this revival
should be a blast
TheaterScene Review
Sly Fox's convoluted structure
barrels along with comic turns by an extraordinary cast, and diminishes to a series of
funny but disjointed comic cameos, more physical than cerebral,
played as broadly as possible....

Notes Sly Fox had a
first hit run from 1976 to 1978 at the Broadhurst
Theater. Helmed then as now by Arthur Penn, the show featured
George C Scott, Trish Van DeVere, Gretchen Wyler, Hector Elizondo,
Jack Gilford and, also then as now, Bob Dishy in the role of Abner
