Synopsis In The
Violet Hour, a young book publisher begins his workday searching
through the office for the evening’s theater tickets. His
attention is soon turned to the choice of the first manuscript he
will publish, either a massive tome by his best friend or the
autobiography of his lover
Notes The Violet Hour
was first produced in November 2002 by the South
Coast Repertory. Author Greenberg will now have two shows
playing on Broadway -- he also penned Take
Me Out. The show had a bit of trouble before its opening.
Laura Benanti was replaced by Dagmar Dominczyk September 30th;
Jasmine Guy at least made it to previews, but was replaced between
acts by understudy Robin Miles during the October 23rd performance,
a change that became permanent
This is the Manhattan Theatre Club's
premier production at the Biltmore
Theater and the first Broadway show on its boards since 1987 |
