Notes  On Golden Pond made its Broadway bow with 126 performances at the New Apollo Theater starting February 28, 1979. Tom Aldredge and Frances Sternhagen starred, supported by Barbara Andres, Stan Lachow, Ronn Caroll and Mark Bendow. Directed by Craig Anderson, Ms Sternhagen received a 1979 Tony® Award nomination as best actress

After closing at the New Apollo Theater that June, the production had a 424-performance return engagement at the Century Theater, starting September, 1979

The current production of On Golden Pond was forced to close June 26, 2005, because James Earl Jones contracted pneumonia. His recuperation period would have extended through August; producers did not believe they would be financially able to keep the show on the boards during his absence. Standby Charles Turner completed the last 12 days of the run
