Notes

The Odd Couple first appeared on Broadway March 8, 1965, when it started what would wind up to be a super run of 966 performances, split between the Plymouth and Eugene O'Neill Theaters. Art Carney and Walter Matthau wowed audiences and the critics alike. Mike Nichols direction solidified his standing as a comedic helmsman and interpreter of Mr Simon's wit. Messrs Simon, Nichols and Matthau walked away with Tony Awards for their efforts

The show had a revival in 1985 at the Broadhurst Theater, this time with a bit of a twist. Rita Moreno and Sally Struthers headed the cast playing, respectively, Olive Madison and Florence Unger. It was a bit of a hoot, though not that well received

Neil Simon will have three revivals on the Broadway boards in a span of nine months. In addition to The Odd Couple, Sweet Charity started previews in April 2005 and Barefoot in the Park is due sometime January 2006
