Synopsis

It's hot, dusty hot. Droughts of the 1930s hot. One hundred ten degrees in the shade hot

Fourth of July hot. Smart, straightforward Lizzie Curry should have been married by now. She isn't because, well, she's smart and straightforward and wants her man to be the same. She lets her father and brothers convince her to allow herself to be "set up" with Sheriff File at the town picnic

He doesn't show. But Starbuck does. The stranger promises to make it rain within 24 hours for the price of a Benjamin

Ca Starbuck make it rain? Can Lizzie find what if feels like to be loved?
