Synopsis
The Pirate Queen is very
loosely based on the life, loves and adventures of Grace O'Malley
and her efforts in the Sixteenth Century to stop English attempts to
annex Ireland
Born to a seafaring clan, Grace is
very capable of leading men in trade, in plunder and in battle. The
story is one of love and betrayal, prison and death and the ultimate
confrontation with a Queen
The Road to Broadway
The world premiere of The Pirate
Queen was October 29, 2006 at Chicago's
Cadillac Palace Theater. Including previews the pre-Broadway run
was on the boards from October 3rd through November 26th. Reviews
ranged from politely lukewarm to very poor and Richard Maltby Jr was
brought in to smooth out some of the rough spots in preparation for
its Broadway run |
