Synopsis

The quintessential "Who do I trust?" whodunnit. A man meets a woman and takes her home. Looks like it might make a nice evening until she winds up murdered and the man is on the run. Who from? He's not sure. Maybe the police. But maybe the police aren't the police. And maybe none the folks he meets are who they say they are. And maybe the 39 steps really aren't steps. Needless to say, a show in which four actors play about 150 characters is a bit of a farcical romp

In the Movies

Robert Donat played Richard Hannay in the Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1935 film version of The 39 Steps. Unlike the stage production where Jennifer Ferrin plays the three main females, Lucie Mannheim, Madelaine Carroll and Peggy Ashcroft portrayed them in the film

Notes

Believing that the production still had some "legs," the producers announced plans to transfer it to Off-Broadway's New World stages with performances beginning March 25, 2010
