Synopsis
Chazz Palminteri uses a true incident
from his youth to tell a story about the choices young Calogero
Anello must make as he nears becoming a man. Does he choose the
glitz and glamour he thinks are part of a life in the mob? Or the
blue-collar values of the Italian-American workingman, instilled in
him by his bus driver father
Broadway Show History
This is the first Broadway production
of A Bronx Tale. It premiered in Los Angeles sometime in 1989
(we think), then transferred to New York City's Off-Broadway
Playhouse 91 for a very successful 84-performance run in Fall 1989
In the Movies
Robert De Niro produced, directed and
starred in the 1993 film version of A Bronx Tale. Chazz
Palminteri played Sonny LoSpecchio and Lillo Brancato played
Calogero Anello, with Joe Pesci making an appearance as Carmine.
This is a New York Italian cast with great names: Napolitano,
Caserta, Borriello, Vanaria, Salerno, D'Andrea, Narducci, Genovino
among many others. And they play great characters: Tony Toupee, JoJo
the Whale, Frankie Coffeecake, Louie Dumps |
