Synopsis
A Bronx mother who couldn't do for
herself when she was young and about to be married is torn. Though
she had planned to abide by her daughter's and fiance's wishes for a
modest wedding, the mother, faced with unforeseen pressure, decides
to pull out all the stops
This unfortunately conflicts with her
and her husband's plan to increase their ownership share in a taxi
cab. This leads to more conflict. An uncle is offended. Secrets are
revealed. Relationships are threatened. Then healed
And Dad gets the bride to the wedding
on time

A Catered Affair's world
premiere was a pre-Broadway run at San Diego's Old Globe Theater
starting on September 20, 2007. Scheduled to play through October
28th, the show was extended through November 11th
In the Movies
The 1956 movie with screenplay by
Gore Vidal and directed by Richard Brooks starred Bette Davis and
Ernest Borgnine. Debbie Reynolds was the budding bride and Rod
Taylor her fiance
On Television
The original Paddy Chayefsky teleplay
was first aired May 22, 1955 on the Goodyear Television Playhouse.
