Synopsis
An unkempt wife longs for the past as
her alcoholic husband tries to avoid it. The dalliances of their
young border (with a man to whom she is not affianced), again turn
the husband to drink and in turn to lash out at his wife for no
longer being the wife of his youth
They realize then that 20-year-gone
Sheba is not coming back
Broadway Show History
The current production of Sheba
is the first since the show premiered on Broadway, Wednesday,
February 15, 1950 at the Booth Theater. Directed by Daniel Mann, the
show starred Shirley Booth as Lola opposite Sidney Blackmer's Doc,
with Joan Lorring as Marie. Both Ms Booth and Mr Blackmer picked up
1950 Tony Awards® for
their performances In the Movies
Paramount Pictures didn't go too far
out of the comfort zone when it filmed the screen version of Come
Back, Little Sheba. Daniel Mann again directed and Shirley Booth
starred. This time around Burt Lancaster played Doc and Terry Moore
played Marie On Television
Granada Television scored a bit of a
coup when Laurence Olivier and Joanne Woodward appeared in a
filmed-for-television version in 1977. Silvio Narizzano directed and
Carrie Fisher, in her first role after Star Wars, appeared as
Marie Tony Award®, Tony®, the Tony Award® logo, and
