Synopsis
Who invented television? That's
a question that doesn't really matter in this play, a conflated
retelling of the squabble between media powerhouse David Sarnoff and
bumpkin Philo T Farnsworth over who controls the rights to the
invention
The Road to Broadway
The Farnsworth Invention was
commissioned in 2004 to premiere at Dublin's Abbey Theater. Those
plans were scrapped in favor of a La Jolla Playhouse production
directed by Mr McAnuff from February through March 2007
In the Movies
The Farnsworth Invention
started out as a screenplay by Mr Sorkin. It was supposedly set to
be a Thomas Schlamme project for New Line Cinema sometime in 2005 or
thereafter. Nothing as yet |
