File this under Should Have Known: We
of course knew of actress/writer/director June Havoc and her
distinguished career in theater and film. What we did not know was
that Ms Havoc was the June of the Gypsy story
She was born Ellen June Hovick (or
Ellen Evangeline Hovick) in November 1913, slightly less than two
years after sister Rose Louise Hovick's birth in January 1911. She
did elope to escape the act with Bobby Reed (Tulsa), whom Mama Rose
tried to shoot
